Adrian’s students get Red Cross scholarships – The Globe
ADRIAN — High school seniors Adrian Mayssa Tweet and Hiltyn Heitkamp have received an American Red Cross High School Scholarship for the 2021-2022 school year.
Both Tweet and Heitkamp were awarded a $1,250 scholarship due to their demonstrated leadership in coordinating and recruiting blood drives for AHS’s blood program with the Red Cross. Tweet plans to attend Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter in the fall, and Heitkamp plans to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Alan and Cindy Cox of Cox Realty in Adrian support high school blood drives.
“We so appreciate all the help students have with our Red Cross blood drives,” said Cindy Cox, counselor and blood program manager. “They do a lot of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, including hanging up posters, calling donors and helping out on collection day! We have a wonderful group of students who are always ready to help with every pint needed and to help save lives. »
Adrian High School collected 214 pints of blood at four blood drives during the 2021-2022 school year.
The American Red Cross High School Scholarship Program is available to high schools that schedule at least one Red Cross blood drive during the school year. The scholarship program for the 2022-2023 school year runs from July 1 to June 30, 2023.
