Dragonfly Playhouse Opening Celebration at White Rock – Los Alamos Reporter

Executive director
Los Alamos First Born Program and
Vice president
Los ALamos Public School Board

I am writing this letter to celebrate the opening of White Rock’s new early learning center, Dragonfly Playhouse. This currently home-based business will soon be moving into the building formerly occupied by Sage Cottage Montessori on Rover Boulevard. Indeed, this site has been home to a daycare business for over 50 years. Owner Lauren Lippiatt has led her business through all county processes and has met or exceeded all requirements. I hope there won’t be unnecessary delays, as she already has a significant number of families waiting to enter.

As the Executive Director of the First Born program, I hear from families every week about the challenges of finding high quality child care, especially for infants. This is a major stressor for families with two working parents. Dragonfly Playhouse will help fill this gap. The First Born families who bring their babies to her home daycare shower congratulate Ms. Lippiatt for the excellent care she provides to their little ones. One mom shared, “It was tough going back to work when my baby was so small, but knowing that she was safe and in Lauren’s expert hands made the transition easier. My baby is thriving at Dragonfly.

As a member of the school board, I know first-hand that a high quality and pedagogically sound preschool experience sets the stage for school readiness and a successful entry into elementary school. While White Rock and Los Alamos have quite a few Montessori programs, White Rock does not currently have a play-based early learning center for infants through preschool for families who need on-time child care. full. I wholeheartedly welcome Dragonfly Playhouse to White Rock in its expanded capacity!
