LIHU’E – Hokuala Kaua’i inaugurated its Hokuala Kaua’i Scholarship Program by awarding five students each with $1,000 awards to assist students in their respective undergraduate pursuits.
“Everyone at Hokuala Kaua’i sends their best wishes to these brave young men and women as they pursue higher education,” said Chief Operating Officer Carrie Bligh.
“We would like to thank all the students who applied for a scholarship during this inaugural program and congratulations to those who were selected this year. We are proud to honor these remarkable young adults and are confident that they will continue to excel in their academic endeavours.
Island School graduate Francesca Bivens will be heading to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
Joseph Sams, a graduate of Waimea High School, received an award for his help when he travels to Simpson College in Iowa.
Kirra Carvalho, walking with the Kaua’i High School Class of 2022, will use her award when she attends Chaminade University in Honolulu.
Jaedin Lagundino, a graduate of Kaua’i High School, will use his aid when he starts at Washington State University, and Nicolas Uribe, a graduate of Kapa’a High School, will receive his scholarship when he starts in Kaua ‘i Community College in the fall semester.
The inaugural Hokuala Kaua’i Scholarship Program was created to return goodwill to communities on the island.
