North Island Credit Union offers scholarships for San Diego students

North Island Credit Union encourages applications from San Diego County students for its 2022 scholarship program. Under this program, the credit union offers $20,000 in scholarships each year to recognize students from southern California who are motivated in their academic studies and active in their schools and communities.

“We encourage local students to get ahead of their studies and apply for one of our scholarships,” said Steve O’Connell, CEO of North Island Credit Union. “We know that the cost of higher education can be a challenge for many families, and we are proud to help these students on their journey towards achieving their educational goals. We look forward to reviewing the many inspirational stories in our scholarship applications.

San Diego County high school seniors and community college students transferring to a four-year university who maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average are eligible to participate. Selection criteria include academic achievement, school or community involvement, a letter of recommendation, and an essay.

Interested students can find more information and apply online at northisland.ccu.com/studentscholarship. Online applications will be accepted until April 8. The winners will be announced on May 2.

The credit union’s annual student scholarship program was established in 2005 to recognize outstanding students within local communities. Each year, the credit union awards 20 scholarships of $1,000 each to students in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties. Since the program’s inception, the Caisse Populaire has awarded more than $355,000 in scholarships.
