TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Here is a list of groups and organizations that may need a helping hand in their work to serve our neighbors in East Texas in need.

Where volunteering through DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) makes the difference in the community!

Tyler YMCA is looking for volunteers to help with their child care program. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Volunteers are also needed for the after-school program from Monday to Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The YMCA is also doing renovations and would like volunteers to paint and help with some work. UT Health Center in Tyler – Are You Active? Do you want to stay that way? Keep your New Year’s resolution to be active by volunteering. Many opportunities available – serving refreshments in waiting rooms, transporting patients in wheelchairs and serving families with loved ones in our hospice unit. The East Texas Regional Agency on Aging Ombudsman Program needs volunteers to advocate for residents of Tyler’s nursing and assisted living facilities. Certification training is provided locally. The Literacy Council of Tyler is looking for volunteers who are interested in tutoring adults in reading, math and English as a second language. You don’t need to be a certified teacher; you don’t need to speak a foreign language. We provide the training and the materials. Tyler Ballet Folklorico is looking for musicians for a Mariachi band, singers who can sing in Spanish, and male and female dancers for a professional production.
